Why Road & Field? The story behind the project

Some projects begin with a business plan. Others begin with a feeling that something is missing. Road & Field came from the second kind.

I wanted a place that could bring together different parts of my life without pretending they belong to separate worlds. Roads, technology, travel, cars, gear, outdoor life, fitness, family, faith and shooting sports may look unrelated when listed one by one. In real life, they are part of the same routine.

Road and Field

Road stands for movement: cities, airports, highways, cars, travel and the experience of living between Brazil and the United States. Field stands for what happens away from the desk: the outdoors, equipment, sport, nature, practice and real-world experience.

The name also keeps the publication intentionally broad. This was never meant to become a website only about firearms, only about travel or only about technology. Those subjects belong here when there is a story, an experience or something genuinely useful to add.

A publication, not a persona

There is a meaningful difference between documenting a life and building a persona for the internet. Road & Field intends to stay on the first side of that line.

Not every video needs to begin with someone talking to the camera. Not every trip needs to become a tutorial. Not every product needs to be declared the best thing ever made. Sometimes the story is in the road, the place, the people or simply in using something in a real situation.

The editorial idea is simple: observe, experience, document and tell the story well.

Brazil, the United States and beyond

São Paulo and Florida are two very different home bases. That contrast is part of the project. Things that feel completely ordinary in one place can be surprising in the other. Roads, habits, services, sports, landscapes and everyday routines change when you cross a border.

Road & Field wants to explore that space between both worlds without turning either one into a caricature and without pretending there is only one correct way to live.

What comes next

You will find travel, roads, gear, technology, outdoor experiences, cars, routines, family and personal stories here. Some pieces will be practical. Others will exist simply because a good story deserves more space than a social-media caption.

That is the idea behind Life • Travel • Gear • Stories: not reducing life to a single category — and not reducing the publication to a single road.
